Nice Strong Arm is a product of the creative and welcoming counterculture of Austin, Texas, in the late 1980’s. The band found its sound playing shows with local peer upstarts like Ed Hall and opening for the underground heavyweights of the time such as Sonic Youth, Mudhoney, My Bloody Valentine, White Zombie, etc. The list is long.
The band signed in 1986 to influential label Homestead Records after an improbable one show tour to open for Volcano Suns and to strut their stuff for Gerard Cosloy. They then went on to record three critically acclaimed LP’s, and tour the US indie college circuit non-stop.
Charting and growing fanbase notwithstanding, the band split in 1990.
A re-kindled amity in 2026 finds the trio eager. The old game is afoot: “let’s write songs and play some shows!” The band is touring the U.S. later in 2026; the paint peeling live shows are back! N.S.A. are also recording a new record.
