Hellos!
We only have seventeen shows to announce this week. No big deal. Our fall is starting to get crazy. Just take a look at the below list. So many insane and amazing bands coming through soon. With our new venue – Boot & Saddle, Union Transfer now in full swing and shows all over the place in all sorts of weird spots. It’s looking to be our busiest fall season ever.

Enough with the small talk. We somehow have to introduce seventeen new shows to the calendar and have it make sense. We’ll keep it nice and easy…

If you love indie rock, you are in luck. We have new shows for BILL CALLAHAN aka “The Guy From SMOG” playing an intimate show at The Church on Oct 3rd. Indie rock royalty. He’s playing giant venues everywhere else. Should be a very special evening. Speaking of special evenings our hometown dude KURT VILE is about to receive the Liberty Bell Award from The City of Philadelphia. They are even giving him his own day. He’s coming back to surely sell out Union Transfer once again on Sat October 26th. Get your tickets sooner vs later before the city makes him the King of Fishtown.

CHVRCHES almost sold out Union Transfer with essentially an internet EP and a few YouTube videos. When they come back on September 18th. They’ll have an actual album out and they will become the most popular band ever. Really great electro/pop gems. They are going to be huge and we cant wait because they write actual good, interesting songs.

DUCKTAILS the once solo project from Matt Mondainle of REAL ESTATE is now a full/actual band. He released a new album on Domino Records and it’s a great album of soft and dreamy tunes. Pretty darn near perfect. Come see the full band debt August 1st at Johnny Brendas.

Old School. JOAN OF ARC have been playing shows at The First Unitarian Church since 1996. Tim Kinsella is always the smartest person the room and it shows as he has created 22 albums with his bandmates. 22 albums. Think about that. August 28th at Johnny Brendas.

We also added shows for some young up and coming bands. Trying to keep this e-mail short so check out : HOUSES / WILD BELLE / ANGEL OLSEN / FOXYGEN

We also have new shows for old buddies : ISLANDS / THE BLACK KIDS (woah remember them) and THE OCTOPUS PROJECT

For those who like their music a tad bit heavier we are super excited about the return of PELICAN. Sort of a mix of old school noise rock and super melodic classic rock, like Thin Lizzy via the Hellacopters with hints of some old Touch And Go band. That actually sounds terrible but these guys make it work. November 3rd at the church.

OBITS. You know Rick from DRIVE LIKE JEHU / HOT SNAKES. They have a new album on Sub Pop coming out and they’ll be at JBs. October 11th.

Also added shows for THE MEN with PURLING HISS (what a sick combo!) / THE GROWLERS and AND SO I WATCH YOU FROM A FAR.

Okay that’s enough. See you next week
