Hellos –
You likely heard about our big mega show announcement that we made yesterday…the infamous and somewhat legendary 90s indie rock outfit, NEUTRAL MILK HOTEL will be playing shows again and we were lucky enough to snag two of them. January 29th at The Tower Theater and January 30th at Union Transfer. Tickets go on-sale tomorrow at 10am. In an effort to curb ticket scalping (we know people would be willing to spend $300+) tickets will only be made available online, will-call only. Tickets will only be released to the person who ordered them with valid ID on the day of the show. So do not go to any box offices. They will not be for sale! Start exercising your mouse clicking fingers now. Good luck! We’ll have immediate updates at 10am for you.
Speaking of two shows, we just added another one for ANIMAL COLLECTIVE. Their show last week sold out in just two days so we decided to add another! Rejoice! It’s going to be an epic two night stand. Don’t sleep on it. October 27th at Union Transfer. The last time we booked an Animal Collective show we were accused of being satanists. Hopefully that happens again.
Did you guys see that THE BLACK LIPS are coming to play a sweaty, fun, drunk show at The Church? November 7th. Tickets on sale tomorrow. It should be insane. The last time they played at The Church they opened up for Calvin Johnson and stuck mic cords in unmentionable orifices. Hopefully that happens again as well.
We secretly hate any/all bands with guitars and/or vocals, its probably from watching eight thousand bands over the past fifteen plus years. So we are way, way, way excited to bring young Icelandic composer, OLAFUR ARNALDS to The Sanctuary of The First Unitarian Church. Absolutely beautiful and haunting music. He employs strings, piano, guitar, organ, melodica and subtle ambient electronics to create incredibly rich and lush sounds. It’s seriously so pretty and sad. Inspired by everyone from Eric Satie, to John Luther Adams, Kronos Quartet to the Rachels and even Godspeed You Black Emperor, as well as, of course, his countrymen Sigur Ros who he’s often performed with live. Somber and elegant. So highly recommended. You have to see him perform live on October 5th.
Wrapping it up, Longtime favorites, OF MONTREAL are returning to Union Transfer October 25th. Professional old person punk, GOOD RIDDANCE will be playing the unfortunately named, Voltage Lounge on October 17th.
